Parenting woes


Life is hard and challenging and being a parent is no easy task. Did you know that according to a recent poll, more than a third of mothers have experienced mental health issues which are directly related to parenthood.


The YouGov survey for BBC Radio 5 Live also found that just 17% of fathers had experienced similar issues. So, what can be done about it? Well firstly, when you become a parent the daunting task of knowing where to turn and what to do when things don't quite go your way is challenging in itself. Many parents find it difficult or cannot get any emotional support for parenting issues. Health Insurance plans can help.


In the survey it found that many of those affected mothers received professional help for conditions such as acute stress, severe anxiety and post partum depression.


*Another area of concern for many is discrimination in the workplace, the survey also revealed that 30% of mothers had felt discriminated at work through being a parent compared with 14% of working fathers.
